The dealer will be one of the players. Each player receives 10 face-down cards from the dealer after the deck has been shuffled. Each player hides their ten cards from the other players by holding them in their hands.

To create the draw pile, place the remaining deck face down in the middle of the playing field. The draw pile becomes the discard pile when the top card is turned over and placed next to the draw pile in Phase 10 Game.

Game Play

The first player to play is the one on the dealer’s left. The game keeps going in a clockwise fashion. Choose the top card from the draw pile or the top card from the discard pile to draw one card and add it to your hand during your turn.

Any one of your cards may be discarded at the end of a turn by placing it on top of the discard pile. Each player aims to finish Phase 1 during the first-hand’s play.

A Phase is made up of several cards. Phases are composed of sets, runs, all-one-color cards, or a mix of sets and runs. The Phase 10 Game are as follows:

  1. 2 sets of 3
  2. 1 set of 3 + 1 run of 4
  3. 1 set of 4 + 1 run of 4
  4. 1 run of 7
  5. 1 run of 8
  6. 1 run of 9
  7. 2 sets of 4
  8. 7 cards of 1 color
  9. 1 set of 5 + 1 set of 2
  10. 1 set of 5 + 1 set of 3

Each player can make only one Phase during each hand.

Two or more cards with the same number together form a set. Example: Phase 1 consists of two groups of three, which may be three “7s” and three “10s”. Two sets of the same number might potentially exist, for example, three “10s” and three additional “10s”. Any colour combination is possible for the cards.

A run is made up of four or more consecutively numbered cards. Example: Phase 2 demands a run of four, which might be “3, ” “4,'”5, ” or “6. Any colour combination is permitted for the cards.

All One Color

All of the cards have the same colour. As an illustration, Phase 8 calls for seven cards of a single colour, such as seven red cards, seven green cards, etc. The order of the cards is not need to be numerical.

Wild Cards

To finish a Phase, a “Wild” card may be used in place of a number card or may be used as any color. EXAMPLES: Only cards 3, 4, and 6 are available to a player who wishes to make a run of four.

In order to finish the run, the player utilizes a “Wild” card as a “5”. Or, to finish Phase 8, a player with 6 green cards might use a “Wild” card in place of a green card in Phase 10 Game.

  • It is possible to complete a Phase with more than one “Wild” card. If a player uses one natural card, they may use as many “Wild” cards as they choose.
  • Once a “Wild” card has been used in a Phase, it cannot be changed into the intended card and utilised somewhere else; it must stay in that position until the conclusion of the hand.
  • The first player may choose a card from the discard pile if the dealer starts it with a “Wild” card.

Skip Cards

Skip cards solely function to deny a turn to an opposing player. To use, just discard the “Skip” card while you are still in your turn, then decide who will miss a turn in Phase 10 Game.

  • When you draw a “Skip” card, you may discard it immediately or save it for a later turn.
  • A “Skip” card may never be used in making a Phase.
  • A “Skip” card may never be picked up from the discard pile.
  • Only one “Skip” card against each player per “round” may be used.
  • When someone is skipped, a “round” is once around the table.
  • If the dealer starts the discard pile with a “Skip” card, the first player’s first turn is automatically skipped.
