The Toyota Hycross was rebadged as the Maruti Invicto, which retains the hybrid technology and, to a large degree, shares its appearance. The decision of choosing the Invicto over the Hycross or any other three-row SUV in the same price range therefore becomes a concern. Here’s why we believe you should.

What’s good about the Invicto?

The Invicto, which stands above the Grand Vitara in the brand’s SUV lineup, is first and foremost Maruti’s flagship SUV. It is a fuel-efficient model since it uses the hybrid powertrain from the Hycross. Second, Invicto currently has a lower waiting time than Hycross, where clients must wait for over two years. Hycross currently has a waiting period of over one year.

The Invicto will profit from Maruti’s extensive service network and is sold through Nexa shops. Finally, the Invicto is a more cost-effective option than its DNA cousin because it is Rs. 1 lakh less expensive than the Hycross.

What’s not so good about the Invicto?

The Invicto lacks several features while being more cheap than the Hycross. This is mostly due to the fact that it loses the nine-speaker JBL audio system, receives smaller 17-inch wheels, and does not have power-adjustable ottoman seats in the second row.

Best variant of the Invicto to buy? 

The Zeta Plus and Alpha Plus versions of the Invicto are available, with the former coming in seven- and eight-seat configurations. The Alpha Plus commands a premium of Rs. 3.63 lakh and is priced at Rs. 28.42 lakh as opposed to the Zeta Plus’s Rs. 24.79 lakh price tag.

The Alpha Plus has a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, an electrically adjustable driver seat with memory, and second-row armrests with cupholders for an additional cost.

The top-spec model has Suzuki Connect telematics, a 360-degree camera with front parking sensors, and other safety features.

We advise choosing the Alpha Plus trim if you want your Invicto to be packed with comfort and convenience options. On the other hand, the Zeta Plus offers the same hybrid engine while saving a sizable premium. Notably, no Invicto version receives ADAS technology.

Engine and specifications of the Maruti Invicto

The Invicto is a capable hybrid SUV that uses the Toyota Hycross’s drivetrain. A 2.0-liter Atkinson gasoline engine, together with an electric motor, and a battery pack, provide the power. The electric motor is adjusted to generate 112 horsepower, while the petrol engine produces 150 bhp and 188 nm. The ARAI reports that the Invicto gets 23.24 kmpl of mileage.
