The top 5 DC comics video games of all time

When reading comic books, it’s only natural to desire to be the hero, or at the absolute least, to play as one. Games are a great medium because they let us inhabit a variety of fantasies, which is why they are so cool. Who hasn’t wanted to be Batman or Superman from the DC movies, comics, and cartoons, for instance? And they are only the two most notable instances. DC has an enormous selection of characters, but the top two remain the most obvious choices.

Over the years, many games involving DC comic characters have been created, and in this guide, we’ll rank our top ten favorites.

Batman: Arkham City

Rocksteady Studios took Batman: Arkham Asylum’s best qualities amplified them and set them in an open universe. That about sums up Batman: Arkham City. No matter how far you get in the game, the stakes keep rising because Bats has to deal with adversaries like the Joker, Riddler, Ra’s al Ghul, and more. In all its night-hued splendour, the entire Gotham City is also there for you to explore. Additionally, like its predecessor, it won numerous honours, including the VGX and BAFTA, for which it was well-deserving.

Injustice 2

As they say, the third time is the charm. Despite the success of their first two games, NetherRealms Studios didn’t rest on their laurels. Instead, they repeated and built upon their previous two games’ lessons with Injustice 2. The array of characters has only grown more prominent, and the battle mechanics are far better than before, rivalling some of the best fighting games available. The plot still follows the alternate-universe DC storyline, and the fighting commands the most attention. Speaking of characters, the game has even been expanded through DLCs with new cameos from celebrities like Hellboy, Swamp Thing, and characters from Mortal Kombat.

The Wolf Among Us

Vertigo is a subsidiary of DC Comics that publishes more mature oriented comic books and graphic novels with familiar faces appearing in sinister tales and other original works. Such is the case with the characters from the Fables comics, a darker, more twisted interpretation of the traditional fairy tale cast. The fables-based video game The Wolf Among Us is a precursor to the comic book’s events. With its compelling narrative, an incredible cast of characters, intriguing mystery, and some of the best action that Telltale’s constrained format can generate, it’s one of the best games in their collection. This is one of the best narrative-driven video games available if you enjoy them.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

This critically acclaimed game, created by Rocksteady, served as a model for subsequent Arkham games featuring the Caped Crusader. It was moody, gloomy, inventive, and dark. Beyond that, players will recall the outstanding fighting mechanics and experience this game pioneered, and many other games have since imitated. It happened simultaneously that Batman was leaving his more humorous period and reverting to his dark, gothic beginnings, all while receiving fantastic voice-acting performances.

The Adventures Of Batman And Robin

The legendary Batman: The Animated Series animation was a significant inspiration for this timeless video game, which faithfully captured the mood and visual aesthetic of the programme. You could freely switch between Batman and Robin, or even better, play in cooperative mode with a friend while both heroes were displayed. As a side-scrolling beat-them-up game, there were many power-ups you could use to personalise your loadouts, and each character had their own set of moves. And the game didn’t pull any punches; winning was challenging. Therefore, if you enjoy the genre, you owe it to yourself to check out this undiscovered gem.
