Halle Berry Biography

Halle Berry, an American actress and the first African American to win the Academy Award for best actress, was born on August 14, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was honoured for her nuanced portrayal of the unfortunate Leticia Musgrove in Monster’s Ball (2001).

  • Halle Berry worked as a model while still a teenager competed in national beauty pageants, and started acting in television in 1989. She first gained attention for her parts in the Spike Lee-directed movies Jungle Fever (1991) and Boomerang (1992), which starred Eddie Murphy.
  • Before becoming well-known for Halle Berry depiction as movie star Dorothy Dandridge, the first African American to be nominated for best actress at the Oscars, in the television movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, she co-starred with Jessica Lange in the adoption-themed drama Losing Isaiah (1995).   • She later played a foster parent residing in Los Angeles during the 1992 riots in the spy film Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Kings (both 2017). Later, she was given a role in the action film John Wick: Chapter 3—Parabellum (2019).
  • In the 2020 film Bruised, in which Berry also starred as a defeated mixed martial arts fighter looking for redemption as a mother, she made her directorial debut. She played an astronaut on a mission to stop the Moon from colliding with Earth in the sci-fi thriller Moonfall (2022).
