Ravindra Jadeja or Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja is an Indian national cricket player. He was born in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India, on December 6 1988.

 His parents are Anirudhsinh Jadeja and Lata Jadeja. He has two sisters named Naina and Naynaba. His father was a watchman, and his mother worked as a nurse. His family wanted him to be an Army officer. But from childhood, he dreamt of becoming a cricketer. 

Jadeja was part of the Indian U-19 cricket team that won the World Cup in Malaysia in 2008. His father, Anirudh, wanted him to become an Army officer, but his interest was in Cricket. He made his first Under-19 appearance for India in 2005 at 16.

Riva Solanki met Ravindra Jadeja at a party, and the duo hit it off quickly and soon started dating. Notably, Rivaba was already friends with Jadeja’s sister Naina. Ravindra Jadeja and Rivaba got engaged on February 5, 2016, and tied the knot two months later, on April 17, in Rajkot in the presence of close friends and family. 

Ravindra Jadeja’s wedding was a royal three-day-long affair with ceremonies like haldi, mehendi, and sangeet. The couple was blessed with a daughter Nidhyana in 2017.


Jadeja played First-class cricket in the 2006 Duleep Trophy. He was in the West Zone team. He has also played the Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra. In 2012, Jadeja made the nation proud by scoring three first-class triple centuries, becoming the first Indian cricketer and 8th player in world history. 

With his fantastic performance in the 2008-1009 Ranji Trophy, Jadeja impressed the national selectors. It made his path to enter the Indian national team. Then, he played in the ODI series in Shri Lanka. In 2009, Jadeja played in place of Yusuf Pathan, and in the 3rd ODI, he became the ‘Man of the Match’.

His unique way of playing has won many hearts. In 2013, ICC announced Jedaje as the No. 1 bowler in ODI Cricket. After Anil Kumble was ranked in 1996, no Indian player could manage to climb the spot before Jadeja. 

Though he was not fit and recovered from a shoulder injury, Jadeja was chosen to play in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. After a dull performance in the ODI series against Bangladesh, he has been released from the team. Later that year, Jadeja showed his strength in the Ranji Trophy, making his entry into the national team again. He played for ODI and T20 series in Australia. In 2017, Jadeja won the ‘Player of the series title for scoring tremendously well against Australia. He became the ‘fastest left-arm bowler’ to get 150 wickets playing 32 Test matches in the same year. 

  Jadeja has constantly been in the limelight for the last few years. He got his first century in a Test match in 2018. During the 2nd ODI match against Australia in 2019, he scored 2000 runs becoming the 3rd Indian cricketer. He played in the 2019 Cricket World Cup for team India. Later that year, he earned his 200th wicket in Test cricket while playing against South Africa. 

In 2008, Jadeja was bought by Rajasthan Royals to play in the India Premier League. That year, the team won the series defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final. The captain Shane Warne called him a ‘superstar in the making’, nicknaming him ‘Rockstar’. Jadeja played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011 and 2012, and Chennai bought him for $2 million. He was purchased with the most expensive in the auction.
