10 Shortest Marriages of Hollywood Couples
When a couple gets married, they are frequently advised to watch out for the infamous “seven-year itch,” which occurs when they have fully adapted to their marriage and may start feeling restless. However, for some couples, the honeymoon phase ends abruptly far earlier than the seven-year point—more likely around the 72-day point.
Although these hasty marriages and quick divorces undoubtedly happen in regular, everyday couples, they appear to affect Hollywood Couples more frequently than other couples. More famous couples may have split up within a year of getting married than those who have endured the seven-year itch. Examples include Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, Britney Spears and Jason Alexander, and, most recently, Nicolas Cage and Erika Koike.
Let’s look at some of the shortest Hollywood marriages so far.
Britney Spears and Jason Alexander: 55 hours
Both were wearing blue jeans, and Brit was sporting a trucker hat when they exchanged vows at Las Vegas’ renowned A Little White Wedding Chapel on January 3, 2004. The pop princess’ team got the marriage annulled just 55 hours after learning of the hasty marriage, claiming Spears “lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to the marriage.” Spears later married Kevin Federline the following October, describing the incident as “me being silly, being rebellious” (before filing for divorce a little over two years later).
Nicolas Cage and Erika Koike:4 Days
They were married and almost immediately divorced before most of the world even knew Cage was dating the makeup artist. In March 2019, Cage wed Koike in a private ceremony in Las Vegas. Four days later, and only hours after being photographed arguing with her in front of the world, Cage filed for an annulment.

Tracey Edmonds and Eddie Murphy:14 Days
Edmonds and Murphy tied the knot on a secluded island in French Polynesia on New Year’s Day 2008. Two weeks exactly later, they made their separation public. However, rather than formally filing for a divorce, Edmonds and Murphy had to cancel their preparations for the legal ceremony that would have taken place in the United States since they had delayed receiving their marriage licence there and instead performed only what they called a “symbolic ceremony.”
Jeremy Thomas and Drew Barrymore:39 Days
After only six weeks of dating the then-31-year-old bar owner in March 1994, when Barrymore was only 19 years old, she said “I do” after a night of partying. Barrymore described her unplanned marriage to People by saying, “Everything about us is like fate.” Unluckily, they formally broke up a little over a month later.
Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley:107 Days
He and Elvis’s only kid were wed in August 2002, and Cage swiftly filed for divorce the following November. This marriage is one of his four that makes a list. Their divorce proceedings took much longer than their actual marriage and weren’t formally concluded until May 2004.
Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock:122 Days
The Baywatch star and country singer married on a yacht in July 2006 despite their on-again, off-again relationship status in the mid-aughts. About four months into their marriage, Anderson asked for a divorce in November of that year. In 2018, she admitted that since their breakup, she hadn’t spoken to Kid Rock.

Kenny Chessney and Renee Zelleger:128 Days
The country musician and his actress wife requested an annulment four months after getting married on a well-publicized beach in May 2005, charging “fraud.” In response, Zellweger issued a statement saying that the legalese was “not a reflection of Kenny’s character.”
Tom Green and Drew Barrymore:163 Days
Barrymore had another quickie wedding not long after her first one. After a year of engagement, she and the comedian eloped in July 2001. But they ended their engagement in December 2001. “Drew is a wonderful woman. She is special to me. I wish our marriage could have worked out. I wish her much happiness,” Green said in a statement.
Criss Judd and Jennifer Lopez:218 Days
Lopez was prepared to settle down again after a quick divorce and a highly publicised affair with Diddy (then known as Puffy), and she did so by getting married to Judd, her former backup dancer, in September 2001. However, after only a month of dating, the couple’s hasty entry into married life didn’t seem to bode well for them, and they amicably split up in the summer of 2002.
Elisabeth Moss and Fred Armisen:312 Days
Moss and Armisen wed in October 2009 in what appeared to be a prestige TV match made in heaven, only to split up in September 2010, a few weeks before their first wedding anniversary. Looking back, I feel like I was incredibly young, and at the time, I didn’t believe that I was that young; Moss remarked on the marriage a few years later. It was “very terrible, awful, and horrible,” she continued.
