Taylor Swift published a TikTok video on September 21, 2022, at exactly midnight to start her series “Midnights Mayhem With Me,” in which she would gradually reveal each song on her album. Through the use of a bingo ball cage, Track 13 (“because of course”), titled “Mastermind,” was the first track to be made public.
Swift’s Midnights Lavender Edition was her most recent sales announcement. The Midnights Lavender Edition vinyl, available only at Target, has a pastel purple record that is marbling. The only difference between the cover art and the standard Midnights version is that the writing is pale purple rather than deep blue.

When Will Midnights track be released?
Midnights will drop at, appropriately, midnight on October 21, 2022.
Swift releases albums in the fall frequently (Red, after every “Hot Girl Summer,” became a meme for #sadgirlautumn), but Swifties were quick to point out some potential deeper undertones to this specific release date: One reason is that the sum of Swift’s lucky number—13—is 10+2+1, which also happens to be the birthdate of her rival Kim Kardashian. Even though it is certainly possible—even probable—that these are just random occurrences, there are no coincidences in Swiftie-land.
What Are Midnights About?
According to Swift, Midnights tells the tales of “13 sleepless nights” that have happened throughout her life.
“We lie awake in love and fear, in turmoil and tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made ages and pray that we aren’t—right this minute—about to make some fateful life-altering mistake,” she wrote in her album unveiling.

She said, “This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching—hoping that just maybe when the clock strikes twelve … we’ll meet ourselves.”
Number Of Songs In Midnights
Thirteen tracks will make up Midnights, Swift’s fabled fortunate number, of course. There will be three more tracks on the Target-only Midnights Lavender Edition CD, bringing the total to 16.
It is uncertain whether future Midnights deluxe editions will include additional songs or whether previously unreleased bonus tracks will eventually be made available.
Cover Art For Midnights
Swift is depicted in the leading cover art for Midnights with her hair down and wearing pink lipstick, winged black eyeliner, and dazzling blue eyeshadow. She casts a downward glance at a blurry lighter flame. The title The Midnights is printed in blue gradations over a white backdrop, and writing that reads “Side A” and “Side B” appears next to a track list that consists solely of numbered songs.
