Selena Gomez opted to take a break from social media on the day she was named the woman with the most Instagram followers. The singer uploaded a photo of herself to Instagram and wrote: “I erased this one time because I thought maybe it was too much but eh (taking a break from social media).”

In a TikTok post, Selena, who recently eclipsed Kylie Jenner as the most followed female on Instagram, said: “I have the best friends and fans in the entire world, and I couldn’t be happier. I feel blessed and joyful. I’m fine, too. I adore who I am. I couldn’t care less if I was small or large. I cherish who I am. And yes, I’m going to take a break from social media right now since this is kind of dumb. I’m too old for this; I’m 30.” Also, the artist was unfollowed on TikTok.

Following reported trolling of the singer by reality TV star Kylie Jenner and model Hailey Bieber (who is wed to Selena’s ex Justin Bieber), the posts were subsequently deleted, according to Selena Gomez’s tweet about taking a break from social media. Selena Gomez stated in a video she recorded on TikTok earlier this week, “I accidentally laminated my eyebrows too much.” Three hours later, Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber uploaded Instagram Stories about their brows, and Kylie Jenner scrawled “this was an accident?” over her brows. The Internet recognised the pattern right away and exposed them for disparaging Selena Gomez. Soon after, they removed their Instagram stories.

On TikTok, Kylie Jenner posted an argument in her favour “This is over the top. I never made fun of Selena, and I didn’t read her posts about her eyebrows. Your team is creating something from nothing. This is absurd.”

Selena Gomez has frequently taken social media breaks due to mental health issues. Fans came together in the comments section of Selena Gomez’s most recent post to criticise Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber.
