Kanye West Plans On Buying Parler: The Social Media Platform

The conservative social media platform Parler is currently being purchased by Kanye West. Read on to learn more about Kanye West and his further plans.

Kanye West And His Plans

A deal in principle has been reached to sell the social media app to West. He has legally changed his name to Ye. This information is according to a press statement from Parler’s parent firm, Parlement Technologies. The news came on Monday.

The company’s news release states, “The proposed acquisition would provide Parler a future role in developing an unstoppable ecosystem where all views are welcome.”

Because of antisemitic posts, West had his Twitter and Instagram accounts suspended earlier this month. Since then, he has opened an account on Parler. It is a platform favoured by many conservatives who object to the moderating practices of popular applications like Facebook and Twitter. Parler got its introduction in September 2018.

West added in the news release, “We have to make sure we have the right to openly express ourselves in a world when conservative beliefs perceive to be contentious.

Kanye West On Buying Parler

West has accepted Parler’s offer to buy the app outright. The parties have not yet signed a formal purchase agreement. The transaction is to take place in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Conservatives have long charged that traditional social media platforms stifle free expression and censor information. It is giving rise to more recent applications like Parler. They provide little content filtering after being banned from Twitter in January 2021 for breaking the terms of the Jan. 6 riot. There, a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol, and former president Donald Trump assisted in the launch of a comparable platform called Truth Social.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has made a $44 billion buyout offer for Twitter, stating he intends to utilise the service to further free expression and restore Trump’s account. Musk claimed in a previous week’s tweet that he had spoken with West. He said, “explained my concerns about his recent comments, which I hope he took to heart.”

Parler CEO On West’s Plan

In a statement on Monday, Parler CEO George Farmer welcomed West “in the struggle for free expression.”

According to Farmer, “Parler’s open door and viewpoint-neutral stance on social media offer an environment. There everyone can communicate freely” as the social justice mob continues to target those who disagree with this.
