Domestic Career

Kumar made his first-class debut against Bengal at the age of 17. Besides playing for Uttar Pradesh, he played for Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy. In the final of the 2008/09 Ranji season, he dismissed Sachin Tendulkar for his first-ever duck in first-class cricket.

IPL Career

Following his impressive performance in the domestic circuit, Kumar was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009. Next year, he was signed by Pune Warriors India. After Warrior’s dissolution from the IPL, he was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014. In 2016, he won the IPL trophy and the Purple Cap by taking 23 wickets. In the 2017 IPL, he took 26 wickets to get his second consecutive Purple Cap. In 2018, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named the vice-captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

International Career

Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his T20I debut against Pakistan in 2012 and took 3 wickets for 9 runs. His ODI debut came a few days later against the same team. Bhuvi got a wicket on his first ODI cricket ball as he dismissed Mohammad Hafeez.
