On 21st May 2023, marked the end of Season 21 of American Idol, one of the most watched and enduring music reality shows on television.

American Idol 2023 Winner

Since there were so many outstanding performers this season, Iam Tongi, Colin Sough, and Megan Danielle made up the Top 3. Before the conclusion, they visited their individual hometowns. Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry praised each competitor’s growth in the signing competition.

The last three candidates, Megan Danielle, Colin Stough, and Iam Tongi, each took the stage for the final time during Sunday’s three-hour program, which was carried live on ABC coast to coast. In this last round of the competition, judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie delivered critiques as usual, but all they had to offer was praise and well wishes as the singers left the programme to start their music careers.

Each of the top three sang two songs, one by special guest coach Keith Urban and the other paying homage to their home cities. The Top 2 contenders were then announced by host Ryan Seacrest, and they competed with original songs. After performing Keith Urban’s “Making Memories of Us,” Tongi got the audience to yell his name. Danielle belted out a Journey classic, while Stough added his good ‘ol country boy charm to a Chris Stapleton song.

For the first time in seven years, former Idol judge Keith Urban appeared on the programme as a guest coach to the finalists and also performed on stage. The musical lineup featured entertaining collaborations with alumni Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard, Ellie Goulding, James Blunt, Jazmine Sullivan, Jelly Roll, Kevin Cronin from REO Speedwagon, Kylie Minogue, Lainey Wilson, Lauren Daigle, Pitbull with Lil Jon, and TLC in addition to the country superstar and judges.

The winner of Idol was ultimately declared to be Tongi. After his viral audition, the 18-year-old Hawaiian’s upbeat demeanour and sultry voice immediately moved people’s hearts. As confetti fell during his performance of Spawnbreezie’s “Don’t Let Go,” he brought the show to a close.
