Elon Musk’s Twitter introduces new business verification

The microblogging site Twitter said on Saturday that it would soon begin offering a verification service for businesses. This service was formerly known as Blue for Business.

In the upcoming weeks, Twitter said, “We’ll be examining applications and granting access to a select group on a rolling basis.”

Twitter introduces new business verification

The social media company will post tweet suggestion code and make account or tweet status available no later than next month, according to an announcement made earlier in the day by Twitter owner Elon Musk. He tweeted, “Transparency breeds trust.”

Next week, he said, “Bookmark button relocating to tweet details page, addressing image length crop & other small bug fixes.”

Additionally, Twitter gives out free ads to businesses that use its platforms for advertising. According to the Wall Street Journal, the move is considered Musk’s attempt to win back brands for the platform, which has seen its ad business suffer since the Tesla CEO took control.

The article claims that Twitter is allegedly dangling free advertising space by promising to match advertisers’ ad expenditures up to $250,000.

Musk had previously launched its Twitter Blue verification service in December. A blue check mark that indicated a user’s handle was validated was one of the features. The grey checkmark designated governments and government organisations, while the gold checkmark served as a replacement for the official marking for businesses. The Edit Tweet tool, higher resolution video uploads (1,080p), and a “reader mode” will all be available to members.
