Edward Enninful Clears Rumours Spreading About His Next Work
Edward Enninful, editor-in-chief of British Vogue, has responded to rumours that he may soon replace Anna Wintour as editor of Vogue magazine.
“Everybody focuses on American Vogue. “He reportedly said everyone is curious about what he is doing but would like to clarify that he is not interested in Anna’s position. In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Monday in London, he added, “I spoke to her about it a few weeks ago.”
Wintour and Vogue’s parent firm Condé Nast continues to deny rumours that she will be leaving the magazine. Talks regarding her resignation are as frequent as fashion weeks.
When questioned, Enninful admitted that he would respond “not today” if allowed to work at the masthead of American Vogue. He also emphasised that Wintour had no immediate plans to resign, citing their conversation about it during Paris Fashion Week in early October.
Enninful has received much praise for increasing diversity on the magazine’s covers since taking over as editor-in-chief of British Vogue in 2017. He currently holds the position of European editorial director at Condé Nast.

About Enninful’s Career
Enninful got his start at the youth culture publication i-D magazine when at the age of 18, he was promoted to fashion director. In 2016, Enninful received an OBE for contributing to diversity in the design business.
Edward Enninful was born in Ghana and immigrated to the UK in the 1980s. He has been open about his encounters with racism in the fashion industry over the years. One such incident involved racial profiling, which occurred in 2020 at the London headquarters of Vogue when a security guard requested that he enter the building through the loading bay rather than the front door.
He stated on social media at the time, “It just goes to show that sometimes it doesn’t matter what you’ve achieved in the course of your life: The first thing that certain people will evaluate you on is the colour of your skin.”
A Visible Man
Enninful’s most recent memoir, “A Visible Man,” which he has been busy promoting while attending Spring/Summer 2023 fashion shows in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, includes descriptions of many of these incidents.
Enninful was clear that American Vogue was not currently in the works, but things could change in the future.
He acknowledged that after touring the globe with his book, he concluded, “I can accomplish better in the world than maybe I can on one magazine.”
Enninful responded when asked if he planned to keep playing his present parts, “Well, we’re currently figuring it all out and working on it. However, I am confident that anything I do will be incredibly innovative because it is my forte.”
