These are the rumors for the Tesla Phone Pi 5G phone, but don’t hold your breath

There has been talk of a prospective Tesla phone, rumoured to be dubbed the Model Pi/P, although there is no solid proof to support this claim. Despite this, it’s intriguing to speculate about what a smartphone from the wildly popular manufacturer would seem.

When Will the Tesla Phone Be Released?

Introducing a smartphone may not be as likely at this time, although it wouldn’t be entirely surprising given Tesla’s track record. Tesla is known for introducing unconventional but appropriate products, such as the Cybertruck-inspired electric vehicle for children and a stainless steel whistle.

We are uncertain as to when this phone will actually be released for the following main reasons:

• The majority of the rumours originate from a YouTube video from adrstudiodesign from the beginning of 2021, although it is made clear that they are the designer’s thoughts rather than actual leaks or Tesla Phone information. The majority of the rumours we’ve heard seem to be based on that information.
• The concepts for this phone, such as Neuralink support and connectivity on Mars, are a little too futuristic to be practical at this time. We’ll discuss them in more detail below. A phone might still be in development without those features as they are not required to be present in the initial model. When those concepts are floated at such an early stage, it is appropriate to be dubious.
• It would be ineffective to invest time in a phone if one of the long-term side effects, or even plans, of brain-connected technologies like Neuralink is to completely phase them out.

If those arguments aren’t convincing enough, take into account the CEO of Telsa’s assessment of the future of smartphones:

Neuralinks are the technology of the future; smartwatches and smartphones are obsolete.

Musk has been quoted as stating “I will make an alternative phone” in reaction to a post about Twitter (which he owns) being taken off of the Apple and Google app stores. Although this has not yet occurred, it appears that Musk would be open to the concept of producing his own phone in order to keep Twitter alive.

Lifewire’s Release Date Estimate

We’ll take Musk’s tweet on Neuralink as proof that these phone rumours are untrue. Although it’s possible that Tesla Phone will eventually produce a phone, there is presently no reason to think that it will. There’s a little possibility we’d see this phone until closer to 2030, even if (and this is a huge if) this phone is indeed being developed in secret.

Tesla Phone Price Rumors

The sophisticated technology mentioned below would cost more than a few thousand dollars in a phone. We wouldn’t anticipate the initial generation to be within most people’s pricing range, but subsequent iterations may become more cost-effective as more people begin to use the technology.

The phone would probably start off pretty simple with only a handful of the rumoured capabilities, and if it were true (again, we don’t believe so), it would likely cost between $800 and $1,200.

Pre-Order Information

Pre-orders could begin many months prior to the announcement and the official release. But without a release date to go by, we are unsure about when, if ever, Tesla Phone Pi 5G pre-orders will begin.

Tesla Phone Pi 5G Features

The rumours regarding this phone aren’t shocking given Tesla’s extravagant features in their current goods, such as the Cybertruck’s nigh indestructible exoskeleton and the bioweapon defence mode in some of their other vehicles.

Here’s what we’ve heard.

• Satellite internet: Modern smartphones have 5G capabilities, so while a Tesla Phone Pi 5G phone would be probable here as well, the business might alternatively opt to use SpaceX’s space-based internet service, Starlink (Elon Musk is the CEO of both). The Tesla phone may potentially contribute to the funding of Mars colonisation, an aim of the corporation since its inception. However, they would need to figure out a means to ensure decent service from such a little gadget in addition to hiding the large antenna satellite phones have. According to one scenario, it would function anywhere a Starlink base currently exists, such as within a structure or, should it ever occur, inside a Tesla vehicle equipped with the proper antenna.
• Solar charging: This is not absurd considering that Tesla produces solar panels and automobiles. It’s doubtful that the phone would entirely use solar power, but it may come with a Tesla-branded casing that allows for some solar charging.
• Vehicle control: A Tesla app for smartphones already allows users to lock and unlock their cars, manage media playing, and summon the car. If not already integrated into the operating system, this software would be preloaded on the phone and accessible through external buttons or the lock screen. The app can potentially provide exclusive choices to Tesla phone owners alone.
• Astrophotography: Modern phones already employ AI and sophisticated cameras to assist when capturing the night sky. With that capability combined with the interplanetary emphasis of SpaceX, which would unavoidably permeate this phone, you have a gadget that can take excellent pictures of cosmic objects.
• Crypto mining: It will mine cryptocurrencies, according to other rumours. It’s logical to imagine that Musk would want to include this capability onto a phone because he has previously been open about cryptocurrency. Although Bitcoin is more widely used and Musk probably likes the current Dogecoin, it is said that the Tesla phone would mine a new cryptocurrency called MarsCoin (which Musk himself has tweeted about). To make this operate consistently, some major hardware would need to be put in place.
• Neuralink support: One company working on it is Neuralink. The notion of computers communicating with the brain is still largely science fiction. They claim to be “designing the first neural implant that will let you control a computer or mobile device anywhere you go.”…simply by thinking about it and using your brain to process it. Could Tesla produce the first phone to accomplish such a feat? An early version could be used on any phone using the Neuralink app, but seeing it here would also make sense given that Musk owns Neuralink.

It makes much more sense for something more manageable to be released first, such as the first four or five functionalities only, along with an Android version bearing the Tesla name.

We’ll have to wait a few more years if this phone is real and Tesla decides to wait to market it until implantable brain-machine interfaces are ready. Musk is certain that Neuralink would be ready for humans by the end of 2022, but because its primary function is to treat paralysis, not everyone would have access to it right away.

Tesla Phone Pi 5G Specs and Hardware

Since there are no trustworthy sources to rely on, all that anyone can base their decisions on with this phone are assumptions. It is also uncertain what the interior of this phone would look like. It would have all the normal parts, including an AMOLED display with a screen size of around 6.5 inches, 512 GB to 1-2 TB of storage, 8-16 GB of RAM, and so on.
