Deepika Padukone performed a ghoomar routine on stage with Tamannah Bhatia, Pooja Hegde, and Urvashi Rautela.
Along with prominent figures like actor-filmmaker Rebecca Hall and Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone is a member of the Cannes Film Festival’s eight-person competition jury. Last night, the actress began her jury duties at Cannes by attending a meeting with fellow members.
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, Ricky Kej, Prasoon Joshi, folk singer Mame Khan, and actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui, R Madhavan, Pooja Hegde, and Tamannaah Bhatia are among the Indian delegation members at the festival. India is the first ‘Country of Honour’ during this year’s Marche du Cinema.
Meanwhile, the actress spoke about India’s cinematic journey so far during the inauguration of the India pavilion at Cannes on Wednesday.
According to Deepika Padukone, “As a country, I believe we have a long way to go, and I am extremely proud to be here as an Indian and to be representing my country. But, as I previously stated, just a handful of Indian films and Indian talent have been able to make it to Cannes, and I believe we now have it together as a nation.”
