Britney Spears Says She Is Pregnant After Controversial Guardianship ends

Britney Spears confirmed on Monday that she is expecting her third child, five months after a judge overturned the tumultuous guardianship that the pop icon claimed restricted her from having further children.

The 40-year-old wrote on Instagram, “I got a pregnancy test… and uhhhhh well… I am having a baby.”

In November, a Los Angeles judge dissolved Spears’ father’s conservatorship, which the singer said had blocked her from having a contraceptive IUD removed despite her desire for additional children.

Spears’ agents did not react to an AFP request for comment right away.

“I was like, ‘Geez… what happened to my stomach???'” says the narrator. Spears stated that her 28-year-old lover Sam Asghari, whom she has begun to refer to as her “husband” online, hypothesized that she was “food pregnant.”

“I’d like to gradually move forward, and I’d like to have the real deal,” Spears said in a shocking court appearance last summer.

To avoid being followed by the paparazzi, Britney Spears announced Monday that she “won’t be going out as much.”

With her ex-husband Kevin Federline, she already has two teenage sons, Sean and Jayden.

Spears also talked about her difficulties with perinatal depression during prior pregnancies in her Monday post, calling it “absolutely horrific.”

“Ladies didn’t talk about it back then… some people thought it was hazardous if a lady complained like that while pregnant… but now women talk about it every day… thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that anguish a reserved proper secret,” the pop star tweeted.

Spears was photographed in gas stations barefoot and driving with one boy in her lap during a highly publicized apparent mental collapse that followed her 2006 divorce and custody fight.

After documentaries that underlined the role of the early-2000s celebrity journalism machine in precipitating breakdowns and questionable behavior, she and other turn-of-the-millennium female pop stars have earned compassion.

In a 2006 interview shown on national television, Matt Lauer, the now-disgraced former morning television presenter, pushed Spears to tears after chastising her over her maternal fitness while she was pregnant with her second child.

Spears did not offer a deadline on Monday.

In 2016, she met Asghari while filming a music video for her track “Slumber Party.”

In September 2021, Spears announced their engagement on social media, although she has yet to reveal a wedding date.

When asked about the couple’s holiday plans by Hollywood tabloid TMZ in December, Asghari was candid: “Baby making.”

“There’s a lot of baby-making going on!”
