5G NETWORK INCREASED MOBILE DOWNLOAD SPEED OF INDIA BY 115%

India rises from position 5G NETWORK 118 to position 69 in the global ranking of the Speedtest Global Index.

According to a survey released on Wednesday, India’s median download speed has improved by more than 115% since the 5G network launched there on October 1 of last year.

According to the Speedtest Intelligence image, the download speed increased from 13.87 Mbps in September 2022 to 29.85 Mbps in January 2023 with the launch of the 5g network.

India has surpassed numerous G20 nations and its neighbours on the Speedtest Global Index, moving up from position 118 to 69 globally.

Not only that, but India is also up against nations like Turkey, which is 65th overall and has a median download speed of 30.98 Mbps, South Africa, which is in 58th place with a median download speed of 34.71 Mbps, and Brazil, which is in 57th place with a median download speed of 35.85 Mbps.

Data indicated that following the rollout of the 5G network, LTE speeds increased for both Jio and Airtel services. If the business is finally recouping its expenses and investments.

The paper stated that when 5G was initially introduced in October 2022, there was a significant difference in the early 5G network performance consumers were seeing on 5G-capable devices.

In reality, the 5G network’s download speed was less than 100 Mbps in nine telecom circles during testing, including Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, North East, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar, Punjab, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh West.

The paper stated that “four months later, in January 2023, 5G median download speeds had significantly improved across all of the telecom circles,” topping 200 Mbps everywhere other than Jammu and Kashmir, with Kolkata recording rates above 500 Mbps.

Also, operators have been able to invest in and increase 4g LTE speeds thanks to the expenditures made for the 5g network.

The average 5G download speed, for instance, is 25 times quicker than 4G LTE. Dueling speeds of 338.12 Mbps and 13.30 Mbps result from this. Moreover, 5g’s upload speed—19.65 Mbps vs. 3.55 Mbps—is 4.5 times faster than 4g LTE’s.

The survey stated that the performance of 5G networks will probably decline once they are made publicly accessible since they are still in their infancy in India.

HOW MUCH DOES INDIA USE THE INTERNET?

With more than half of the population online, India now holds the second-place spot internationally in the Internet market.

The Indian government introduced the idea of “Digital India” in 2015, encouraging companies to offer services online and to compete internationally to turn India into a digital society.

This brought the total number of Internet users to 270 million. The expansion of mobile internet services, especially 4g, may also be credited to mobile broadband providers.

According to the GSMA Intelligence, 5g is expected to revolutionise several platforms and contribute $455 billion to the GDP by 2040 if current growth consistency is maintained.
